FUKKU has been named Best Internal Commercial Project of the Year at the 2025 Guernsey Property & Construction Awards!

The transformation of 16-20 Smith Street, a former post office in a protected building, was an ambitious, collaborative project, driven by the energy of restaurateur Sam Jarrold and shaped by the building’s unique history.

Taking inspiration from London, Tokyo and Bangkok, the new Fukku was conceived to challenge expectations of what hospitality in Guernsey could be. StudiO’s Chris Martel worked closely with Sam and interior designer Beth Jarrold to create a richly detailed space that is both distinctive and alluring. Bespoke joinery, sculptural steelwork, atmospheric lighting, custom furniture and bold graphics create a truly unique dining experience.

Thank you to the judges for recognising the phenomenal teamwork and attention to detail that made Fukku such a success. We share this award with Sam, Beth and the whole Fukku team, as well as with the many collaborators who helped to deliver the project.
