Converting a faded relic into an adaptable venue with bold industrial aesthetics
SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2024 GUERNSEY DESIGN AWARDS
Our design transformed a dated and dilapidated relic into a stylish contemporary dance club and event space, unrecognisable from its previous form as Fusion.
By exposing the concrete block walls and layering with vertical laser lighting, we converted both entrances into atmospheric portals guiding you to the central core. A two-storey ‘sculpture’ of gauze-like perforated black metal, riveted to a sinuous steel frame, divides the cavernous interior into distinct zones and creates flexibility of use and control of atmosphere. The bars, ticket office and DJ booth, formed of ‘hit-and-miss’ concrete blocks, act as light sculptures that serve as way-finding beacons.
The result is a reactive, adaptable venue that far exceeds anything Guernsey has seen before in terms of spec, aesthetics and clubbing experience – one that can be used not only as a dance club but also as a space for a wide range of other events. See you on the dancefloor!
