Maison D’Val

A contemporary extension within the tapestry of traditional buildings and landscape

By using carefully chosen materials and by respecting the form and massing of the adjoining 14thC longhouse and surrounding buildings, this contemporary structure sits sensitively within the patina of historic fabric.

In introducing contemporary lines to a building constructed of traditional materials, and designing to a considerable level of detail (including bespoke hidden gutters designed specifically for this project) the building succeeds in connecting the living spaces with the garden and countryside beyond, enhancing the traditional built landscape with a considered, contemporary twist.
