Work in progress: Alba
Works are well underway at 6/7 Market Buildings, where new restaurant and bar Alba is beginning to take shape.
The windows facing onto Market Square have been replaced by glass doors, which when open will connect the ground-floor dining space directly with the square. The substantial bar is under construction, with two ornamental antique doors already fixed in place.
As electrical and other works progress in the main ground-floor dining room, the beautiful original tiles and decorative mouldings are being preserved and protected.
Upstairs, an elevated mezzanine dining area features a newly exposed and restored original hardwood floor, glass balustrades and a second bar made of reclaimed wood.
Much larger than it may appear at first glance, Alba promises to be a terrific new addition to Guernsey’s restaurant scene, and a real boon to the Market Square area.
We’re grateful to our wonderful clients, who have been instrumental in driving and developing the vision for the space, and to the many contractors working hard on site to bring this exciting project to completion. Look out for more updates as opening day nears!
