StudiO assists Caritas in project to combat homelessness

We believe architecture should serve the community – not just through good design, but also through compassion and collaboration. That’s why we’re proud to be supporting local homelessness charity Caritas with a planning application for its Emergency Sleeping Pods project.
Homelessness in Guernsey is a growing concern, with too many local individuals and families struggling to find stable places to stay. Caritas has exciting plans for a modular housing community to help address this problem in the long term.
Meanwhile, in the short term, the charity has proposed an interim solution in the form of compact, solar-powered sleeping pods that offer safety, dignity and shelter in moments of crisis.
Designed to function without mains services, these innovative pods are self-contained and secure. Their minimal footprint and mobility make them ideal for providing immediate relief for those in urgent need.
We’re helping Caritas with the planning application process, advising and putting together the required documentation to hopefully secure approval for this vital initiative.
We’re pleased to be working with the amazing team at Caritas and proud to contribute our expertise to a project that supports some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
We look forward to seeing these pods in place and hope they mark the beginning of broader, long-term solutions to homelessness in Guernsey.
